Welcome to the Hanley & Co Online Bookkeeping System

The Hanley and Co Online Bookkeeping System is free and suitable for all our clients, from small sole traders to Limited Companies.

We designed the 'OBS' in October/November 2010 in order to combat a common problem. Other accounting systems are massively complex and difficult to understand. We have found that users tend to make easy mistakes such as posting a transaction to the wrong category or nominal code. This means that the benefit in using the system is often lost in the time it takes to correct the mistakes.

Why is our system better than the rest?

The Hanley and Co OBS massively improves the user's experience by exactly matching the requirements of their business. This is because we set up a brand new, specially configured system for each client and so, ensure that the client only sees the nominal accounts that they require. Obviously, if the client's business changes during the year i.e. a new product is bought and re-sold, we can easily add extra nominal accounts so that the bookkeeping continues to analyse trading accurately.

What can the system do for me?

The user is prompted by a simple and precise layout to input only the relevant information when recording invoices and receipts.

The system also automatically creates an Aged Debtors Report and we can develop specialist debtors and creditors ledgers to help you keep track of your cashflow.

Once you begin inputting data, the system will automatically maintain brilliant Profit and Loss reports that you can access at any time, so you can keep an eye on your progress throughout the year.

How can Hanley & Co support me while I'm using the system?

With your permission we can log into the system at any time (even when you are online). On a day to day basis, this allows us to correct errors and provide additional training where necessary. Our clients also ask us to check their VAT Returns before submission. Even more exciting, we can pro-actively discuss your financial progress and provide practical business advice (and review tax planning, if necessary) mid-year, instead of simply reviewing your figures after the year end.

How secure is the system?

Obviously, security is our greatest concern and we are pleased that our systems has the following protection in place:

SAS 70 Type II Compliant
Armed Guards
4 Redundant Generators
Nightly offsite secure backup
128-bit SSL encryption

In addition, our OBS systems automatically email the user a weekly 'data dump' file which contains lists of all data on the system and acts as a backup. So, there is no need for you to spend time manually backing up your data.

How popular has the system been since it was launched in October 2010?

Since we launched the system, over 50 of our clients have begun using it (with very little training). We are pleased to report we have received great feedback so far.
